How to draw white whiskers with colored pencils
Ah, white whiskers, colored pencils, and white paper. One of the more frequent struggles of animal artists, and one I'm going to share some tips about now. There are several ways of drawing white whiskers. Some people prefer to use a needle or similar to make indentations in the paper, which stay white. However, those are often too thin to look good (especially for portraits), mistakes are made easily, and chances are you damage the paper. It's a good trick if you need very thin lines, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. Other techniques involve just drawing around the whiskers, using a gel pen or similar to draw them, or to use an eraser. All those techniques have flaws. Drawing around the whiskers is often difficult and time-consuming, and I can tell from experience that mistakes are often made. The gel pen will have a different texture than the rest of the drawing, and it can often look a little weird. Finally, the erasing will not get the whiskers as light as one would
